There are clever things, we believe, designed into our products, which
might
not be that obvious initially. The TAGtronic Bus is certainly one of them.
What might have looked, when originally launched, like two RJ45 connectors
on the rear panel of the AV32R, are in fact major product features; pretty
complex and sophisticated in their entirety.

Most of you will be aware that the TAGtronic Bus is used t download those
exciting software upgrades which give our products new life and guarantee
that they stay at the leading edge. However, the upgrade facility, albeit
very important, isn't really stressing the TAGtronic Bus t its limit.

Maybe we should have named the TAGtronic Bus 'TAGtronic Network' t show
its
real performance envelope, as it allows us t connect many products t the
same (electrically simple) RS485 structure. This is like connecting a group
of people, of unknown number, through a conference call where all share the
same, single telephone line. What will happen? Initially everybody seems
shy
and waits t hear something, but then they all try t speak at once, so
that
nobody really understands anyone. What is required is what we call
'Collision Detection', the process allowing a party t know when they are
allowed t talk. The TAGtronic Bus includes this, and much more, making it
a
very versatile and powerful tool, connecting just a few products t day, but
maybe, one day, multiple rooms or maybe several houses?

Getting the TAGtronic Bus t where it is required a forward thinking team
of
engineers; the preparedness to add a powerful, and hence costly,
microcontroller (a 16bit Siemens), and for us to dedicate huge resources to
the necessary software development.

We would now like to share the TAGtronic Bus Protocol with you, allowing
you
to develop your very own PC applications integrating with the Bus.

There are 2 documents you should read before undertaking this task:

... and they're available t download from the site.
