Ok perhaps i am coming at this from what i have seen. Working for a retai=
ler where 30% was the bottom line on 99% of the lines.

If you can't cut prices or source cheaper then i guess where stuck with i=
t.

All i was originally saying is these things are too expensive. Take one a=
part. Look at the cheapness of components used. The housing ? My brother
wo=
rks in injection moulding. This stuff would go in the bin, it would never
l=
eave his factory. The quality is so poor and therefore cost penies to
produ=
ce.

I have a feeling that you didn't read my comments fully. I repeat: The
factory price for a UK appliance or lamp module is over =A310 for quantit=
ies
of several thousands. Additional costs would have to be added before the
modules get t the first destination of the line. If anyone is ripping
people off, it is at the start of the line.

Yes, cost is a factor but is not always a major one. Obscurity, lack of
choice and features have also contributed to it.

Do you actually know the quantity Homebase have shifted before and now or
are you just assuming?

The discount on what price? Of course there is profit left, HA business i=
s
not charity work and we have bills to pay and mouths to feed. The profit,
however, is nowhere near as much as you are assuming though. There is
always room for a price cut, the question is where and how much.
