It's really not that bad. Most of the current distributions install
cleanly out of the box on most hardware, and will also step you
through the basics of network configuration. If you do feel inclined
to tackle it, there's plenty of cumulative intelligence on the list
to get you going - I'd certainly do my best to help you with any
issues you encounter.
