This may be of use to those building the OIRRC (Orr Infra Red Repeater
Circuit!), I came across it whilst perusing the electronics books at
Heffers
in Cambridge at the weekend.

Nigel's circuit (or something very close) was shown in an electronics
encyclopaedia, and they suggested the following to provide a filter for IR
in general:

Expose 100ASA film to (can't remember whether is was cold or warm coloured)
fluorescent lighting for 5 seconds, and the developed negative makes a good
IR filter.
