If you are just copying the installation folders across then they are on
the
CD in 8.3 format. If your HD has enough space then leave the folder on
there, it means that you will be able to update the OS when necessaary.
Don't copy the whole CD just the relevant folders. I am bereft of win 9x
CDs
so I can't tell you which ones I'm afraid.
