The way I have usually done this in the past (had exactly the same problem
with 4 486's that I gave away a little while ago!) is to temporarily
install
the hard disk into the PC with the CDrom drive, copy all the installation
files onto it, then re-fit it into the original CDROM-less PC.

Laplink et al are al fine, but have you ever tried copying 130MB (I think
thats about the the size of the Win98 CAB files!) over a serial link!! -
even over a parallel cable it's a complete yawn!

Also, I find quickly swapping a hard disk to usually be quicker than
faffing
about trying to get a LAN connection working under DOS - finding the NDIS
drivers for the NIC usually being the hardest part!
