In preparation for a new front door (which still hasn't materialised), I
moved the master socket (at BT decided the easiest cable route was through
the frame) from the downstairs hall to upstairs landing (oops).  I fitted a
dual gang metal backbox (if I ever get a second line/ISDN/HH/ADSL ha!), and
everything is now neat and flush.  I was contemplating the idea of locating
it in the loft, but if BT ever need access, I'm not too sure they would
happily crawl around - and would almost certainly wonder how it got there
in
the first place.

Of course, I have given the game away any how as I used silicone to seal
the
cable entry point properly!  Like it when I moved in, previous chappy was
very handy with a screwdriver guv....
