Does Chris read the egroup, or should I contact him directly?

How does the motor grip the cord- does it just rely on downward tension to
keep enough friction to turn the cord?  I'm wondering how much it will
strain the curtain rail's fixings to the wall.

And how fast does it open the curtains?  And can you still open and close
them manually?

At =A340 it sounds like a good price- and if anyone wants details of my
sneaky method of converting ordinary curtains on a pole to a loop-operated
system so they can then automate them, just ask and I'll post or www it!
It might work on rails as well, but probably not well without a couple of
additions.  It's not difficult to do, but it might take some explaining!
