I was looking at one of the new Sony Vaio handheld PC's today, and
something struck me. Would it be possible to use the infra red port as
a remote control device?

Does anyone know? Is the signal modulated by hardware inside the PC?
Would you be able to capture signals from other remote controls with it?

I discussed this with the guy who owned the Vaio, and the general
opinion was that the range on one of these things would probably
wouldn't be too good.
