Hi all,

I've followed this thread with interest, and the it ocurred to me the other
day, that my door camera (a bog standard mono £60 B&Q job) was supplied
to
me with about 120 feet of cable on it, which was far longer than I needed
to
get from my front porch, into my cellar, which goes right under the front
door! - total cable distance required: about 8 feet!.

So I decided to cut out all the surplus, and re-solder the scart plug on. I
left myself about 20 feet, and cut the cable, & I noticed that it was
mere 8
core (thin) telco - or alarm type cable (not twisted or anything). I
remember thinking hmmm, this is sending composite video AND power in the
same cable jacket, and the result is just fine. It was just fine even
before
I shortened it, so therefore I conclude that it's perfectly feasible to
send
both power & video over this type of cheap cable, for >100 foot
distances....

Regards.

Paul Gordon.
