X10 and my broken TV

I have just returned from picking up my 'timer control' system from
Homebase. and have just connected 2 lamps to my system, and switched them
on and off in every possible permutation, twice!. Once bored, I decided to
watch TV and I find that my Sony TV, which had been on standby throughout
the demo to my wife (who showed appropriate signs of interest the first
time, but her enthusiasm seemed to wane for the repeat show...) and find it
broken.

The TV now refuses to come off standby and just flashes a sequence of 12
flashes on LED B before 1 flash on LED A repeatedly. If I turn off the TV
from the main fromt power switch and then turn it on again, I receive the
degaussing noise and the usual click 5 seconds later, but to no better
effect.

Can this really be a bad coincidence on the first hour of my HA
experience??

All thoughts gratefully received.

Adam
