Rick,
I'm surprised that you feel this. My hard drives all run "power
saving" and
shut themselves down when they haven't been used for about 10 minutes. How
much power does a an array of hard drives in standby mode actually used
compared to, say, a fridge?

I guess guys on this list are not very ecologically biased then - that
