Keith
Thanks for this and for the reply on the KAT5 12v supply. All becoming
clearer now and I DO see the advantage of using only CAT5 &
standard RJ45
terminations throughout.
Only one question on the daisy-chaining - I'd surely be guilty of a
non-standard RJ45 socket if I terminated two CAT5 cables behind it :-).
Instead, couldn't I splice an RJ45 plug onto the middle of a standard patch
cord,
KAT5 TX -> socket 1 -> patch cord -> spliced plug -> other end
of patch
cord -> socket 2 -> KAT5 RX 2 -> amp
--> KAT5 RX 1 -> TV
Not sure how easy this is in practice (bit fiddly?).
Re the TV tuner output - yes, I would regard it as another source device
and
run a second TX/RX pair to the main switcher.
Best regards
Andrew

Andrew,
See my comments below marked ***

So is there a passthru RJ45 port or something similar?
*** No. You must terminate 2 CAT5 cables on the wall socket that the
receiver is connected to just as the Ringmain has two cables connected to a
socket. ***

Not sure what you mean by the "KAT would only be carrying its own
audio". Can't I have the 1st KAT5 receiver feeding video to the TV,
daisy-chain to the 2nd KAT5 receiver (over CAT5!) and feed audio to
the amp?
*** Yes, my point was that the audio on this would be what was being fed
from the KAT5 Transmitter. If you werent watching a KAT5 source but
something "Off Air" via the TV's tuner, you wouldnt have a means
to feed
that audio to your amp, you would have to use the TV's internal speakers.
