Then I would modify the paragraph I cited to read...

The Status Indicator requires that the sensors be "enrolled" by first
sending a signal FROM the first sensor (to unit code 1), then FROM the
second sensor, (to unit code 5) then FROM the third sensor (to unit code 9).
