X10 software locks WinXP

I have used the X10 Firecracker CM17a sucessfully on Win98 and 2000
with Homeseer but recently installed it on XP.  The Firecracker s/w
would lock up the PC each time.  I removed it via the Control Panel and
after many reboots my PC is still not responding after boot up.  The
other time I tried this my PC was ok after uninstalling the X10 s/w.

Any suggestions?
