HomePlug is in widespread use in the US and around the world both for in
house BPL and Access BPL.

Google using "powerline ethernet adapter" and you'll find all the major
players supply hardware.
The version of Access BPL which seems to be gaining the widest acceptance is
also based on HomePlug.
While the HomePlug AV spec has only recently been approved, Intellon showed
hardware that streamed multiple HDTV feeds more than a year ago.
Perhaps you're confusing it with "HomeRF" which was one of the dozen or so
failed incarnations of what eventually became ZigBee.
