I strongly suggest to do not, I repeat DO NOT do it.

I installed one of those keypads a few years ago for a job because getting
wire to the bedroom would have been a real PITA.  Only to find out that the
range is about 50 feet from the transceiver.  Once you place a wall or two
between it drops.  For best reception had to place on top of the dresser at
a 45 degree angle.  Once you send the disarm code it will take a bit of time
before the panel responds, very slow.

As for battery life??  Don't really know.  Has much to do with how much it
get used.

Now I must say that this was about 8 or 9 years ago.  Maybe it is better
now.  Because of past experience I don't even want to try it again.
