I doubt the lawsuit will do anything to slow
the conversion from POTS to VoIP.  This
is just a fight between two major players
over who gets the revenue.  Verizon wants
to stop Vonage from competing with them
and they believe that Vonage stole their
patented methods.

Remember Ademco vs. ITI?  ITI (now GE
Security) won a major court victory over
Ademco (now Honeywell).  Ademco got it
reversed on appeal.  After the dust settled
both companies continued to manufacturer
the same products.
