WTF?

So I stop in a site today because they say the pictures they're getting on their
DVR are "too fuzzy" for the cops to use... find out that's because the cameras
they're worried about - the ones on the gas pumps - are cheap-ass IR bullet cams
that WE DIDN'T INSTALL. But that ain't the screwy part...

I see one input on the DVR showing NO SIGNAL... okay, I'll check that out once
the software upgrade is done. Finish the update, fire the server back up...
ahh, got picture now! Wait... a minute later... NO SIGNAL again. Da hell?

Look for the camera... oh nice, it's a cheap PIR motion sensor (functional!)
with built-in pinhole cam, really ugly wiring hanging down the wall (obviously
also NOT installed by us)... and the camera only comes on when motion is
detected. Soon as the "red light" goes out... so does the video.

Cheap bastards... apparently all this junk is stuff that was GIVEN TO the
owner's brother for money that was owed him. Nice.

Just to rub it in, I showed the owner some pics from the 1.3MP IP cameras I
installed last week... 40 degree FOV and a license plate is still CLEARLY
legible from a distance of 40 feet. Sweet.
