Those two statements are not contradictory.   Therefore, not a lie.

A jolly good tale.  Full of tension and emotion that builds steadily
to a cresendo.   Would have liked to have had the full text of the
Mayday message included, and I'm looking forward to reading the rest
of the adventure.
