Several of them are in fact "free", meaning you don't lay out cash for
them... most DO require that you participate in various surveys, sign up
for assorted mailing lists, buy specific other products, and/or convince
others to do the same (the more people you link to signup, the quicker
you "earn" your "free" item, for example).
In other words, they do typically require a significant investment of
time and brainpower.
