Hypocrisy part deux

I am by no means a fan of the DIY market although it provides
know-it-all customers a different avenue to travel rather than dialing
my number to annoy me with their nonsense. I lost a deal to a DIYer
last year and was happy with the outcome. The customer just knew too
much about everything and even knew alot about nothing's second cousin
something. He was the Time Life How To Do Everything book author.

I am also no fan of double standards. There are other DIY characters
and folks with alterior motives that post here regularly that don't
poke the beehive by publically posting info, and don't stir the pot.
Does that make them any better? I mean if a guy steals 1 of your
watches and you find out about it while someone else steals another
watch and you never know it's missing is the first guy guilty and the
second gets a walk or are they both thieves? A thief is a thief is a
thief.
We have posters here offering to unlock proprietary panels, renting
proprietary programmers, and selling access to proprietary installation
manuals. What's your thoughts on them? They are stealing but when have
you ever questioned them?
What's your thoughts on other DIY stores being listed on websites
authored by ASA posters?
If DIY is bad (and that is basically what you said) then how is it only
party is deemed guilty?
You guys talk an awful lot of shit about ethics but all you do is talk
the same old shit about the same old person.
What's funny is how alot of the shit talkers are just as guilty when it
comes to divulging industry 'insider' info, or promoting a DIY site.

If you want to bash the guy for whatever reason then have at it. Throw
dukes with him until your knuckles fall off but for crying out loud
shut the fuck up already with the ethics nonsense. If the Ethics police
ever raided this place we'd all be cellmates.

Bass Home is no more a threat to my business than the corner deli. Like
I said, I hate the concept of DIY but I've accepted the fact it is here
to stay. These DIY sites can move their "headquarters" to states that
have no license requirements with the flick of a wrist so it's wasting
time and resources even trying to fight them. Distributors are the only
ones who can put an end to it but they never met a dollar they didn't
like.

What we should be concerned about, if ethics is such a hot button
issue, is companies like Protect America mass marketing our areas with
their mail order alarm systems, organizations like the NBFAA
hoodwinking members into paying for ADT's legal defense yet blatantly
ignoring proof submitted by Nick Lawrence of Bay Alarm's unlicensed
activity, and trying to divert attention from the real causes of false
alarms by using some ECV bullshit & dialer delays.
Talk about trunk slammers. What the hell good is an alarm system if the
damn thing waits 20 seconds before dialing a central station who will
call your home and if no answer after 4 rings will call you on your
cell or call your neighbor to see if everything is ok? Good Lord by the
time the cops get notified, and send an "available car" the only thing
left in the house will be the alarm.
Ethics? Knackers (travelers, tinkers, whatever you call them) have a
better code of ethics than our industry.
Hey but don't speak up about any of that because around here it is more
important to be part of a crowd even when you know you're being a
hypocrite than to take a stand for what is right.

Now since we have determined that ethics has no place in this forum
let's please return the focus back to things we deem important like
rolling 737's, dropping dead from hitting your head, food drives, 8
track tapes, and motorcycles.
