Dunno Don, you gotta be careful with that one too. I am totally
unlicensed, because there is no requirement for licensing of any kind
for either an alarm company or a locksmith up here in Ontario.
Licensing is fine if there is anything in it to truly protect the
public, and is not just the usual government ploy to add more
government control of some other facet of our lives and tax us even
more for the privilege.
I would hope that one day they bring in at least a background check up
here, and preferably, some sort of installer level competency test
procedure. CANASA iscurrently working with the Ontario government and
hopefully will bring about realistic changes that benefit the industry
as well. If they don't, we'll end up with the same kind of bullshit
licensing we have in Quebec (must be an electrician to install an
alarm....politics anyone !!!!!).
Between no licensing, and bullshit licensing, I'll take the former
every time.
