ULC is the standard by which most AHJ's "default" to. ULC is written around
NFPA 72 for fire monitoring, requires a licensed, ULC certified company to
install the equipment, the use of ULC listed components, and a ULC listed
(for fire) monitoring station. The system must also be certified (five year
certificate) with *annual* inspections of the equipment mandated. On a lot
of buildings in which we service the fire alarm, access control and CCTV but
don't happen to provide the monitoring service, I rarely see the annual
inspection section signed off on. That is a major "no-no".
