They're designated "system smoke detectors" and are designed to function
with a listed control panel (in this instance "QED control panels only").

If you look at the last page of the Ademco installation manual they
"suggest" replacement after ten (10) years.  The unit's actually designed to
function for 20 (or more)...  Replace the battery, *maintain* and *test* the
unit on a regular basis and you'll be fine!!!
