Phil, Panasonic offers this in a couple of different ways. First off, they
do have software which will do what you are looking for, but as you found
out, it is costly, from a simple homeowner stand point. But, the software is
also unlimited on the number of cameras you can do this with. Secondly, and
this is also available, but the level in which the average homeowner can do
it, may not be as mainstream as the software, is FTP. You can download a
free FTP server package that you can run on any windows OS, for which you
can remotely transfer images too. There's no catch, just a little learning
curve. You can set up all the variable from within the camera as well.
