It will run fine, but you'll lose the OSD, since the OSD requires the
xPL module, correct?

It doesn't seem unreasonable to me to require the xPL module to be
loaded for a MediaPortal client to operate, just as other clients would
require certain services to be installed.

xPLMediaNet could still run without xPL, but you would lose MediaPortal,
in the same way that you would lose OSD.
