It kinda depends - most of the current breed of USB controllers are not
"true" USB - they use chipds like the FTDI U232B  which convert
an existing
serial port design (like the time honoured CM12 module for instance) to a
virtual serial port over USB.

For those, the existing CM12 software works.

For the newer "pure" USB designs.. It's all down to the
manufacturer I'm
afraid - if the offer a DLL or some other form of documentation then we can
build an interface, but if they are a closed shop... Then it's a lot
harder.

Is it possible to use xpl and xplhal with usb connected controllers such as
the 1132CU POWERLINC CONTROLLER and the new insteon controller?
If so, how and with what software? I assume that the xPL-to-CM12 gateway
service will not work since it is looking for a serial connection and not a
usb connection.
