I have always used relational databases, so a flat file format is foreign
to
me.

However, it is simple and although wasteful in diskspace not too bad.

If we assume it takes about 1kb to store 1 track that's still only 50mb to
store 50,000 tracks - so it won't break any database size limits (I think
access is 2gb?) and these day's what's 50mb (I have short mpg's of 200mb+).

Also it's much easier to process without the use of pre-defined queries
(stored proceedures)

Will go with the flat format, unless someone comes up with a reason not to
this morning.
