I haven't had much practise with .NET, but much as I have resisted being
sucked in, one of it's features is the ability to build a multi-language
application.

It's probably the way to go, and doesn't require any special effort on the
part of your application (your VB dlls should "just work", and so
should my
C++ ones).  I let you get on with the important stuff, and we can revisit
the C++ dlls later, when the interface to xPLMediaNet is solidified.
