I think you covered it very well already Frank!

But you forgot to mention tvosd and probe ;-)

Seriously though you can control just about anything with xpl (including
your holiday home in spain if you have one)

Like frank I use it to control lights, occupancy, zoned ir receive/send,
daily reminders to get the milk in/put the rubbish/salvage out, control
cable/freeview tv, dvd changer etc. Log incoming/outgoing calls with
announcements. Weather station, music, alarm, e-mail/text me of any
problems
(or if phone rings (can also take messages and control house via menu, and
doorbell rung - no picture yet, but that's on the list). Voice recognition
to some degree. Control/monitor the house via the web. Curtain control
soon,
when I finally get time to install them. OSD display on tivo for critical
events/reminders Etc etc

xPLRioNet/xPLMediaNet are fabulous of course ;-)
