The problem is that because the 240V PIRs are designed for 240V loads, they
usually just output 240V to the load terminal.
E.g. they will have an input for live/neutral, and an output for the
switched live which is only active when the PIR triggers.
This means you'll always get 240V out of the PIR whether you want it or
not.
There are some mains PIRs out there with voltage-free contacts, but many of
them I've seen only have a single 240V load terminal.

I'd stay away from 240V PIRs and go with 12V outdoor PIRs - any good
retalier of security products should be able to sort you out with a 12V
external PIR.

I can give you a list of some suppliers/suitable models available here in
the UK, but I'm guessing this would be of limited use to you unless you are
prepared to import them from the UK.
