Could this approach be used to provide synchronized playback on a number of
xPLRIONet devices in different rooms with winamp?

No, it can be anywhere on the network. As long as you have winamp to act as
a dsp and point it at xplrionet it will make it available as a stream (once
xplrionet has the module added).

I'm going to add this anyway, as it will make control of my radio tuner a
lot slicker.
