Actually I've gone a different route now - I've already put all the hard
work into making a framework that runs as a service or app as required,
so I decided to use my SDK with a bit of managed C++ to bridge to void
between that and the ZWave SDK.  So far it seems to be working OK.  I'll
be publishing a zwave.basic schema for low level control soon, with the
intention of also supporting any generic lighting schema that gets
adopted in the future.

One downside to ZWave is that it doesn't seem to report local changes to
light levels - you have to poll for them - although I'm not sure at the
moment whether that is a limitation of the ZWave network or the SDK.
