xPLMediaNet - MVP Menus - Is this a good idea

Hi all,

Any opinions on this please?

The MVP menus are slow to generate because they have to go thru a number of
processing stages to get to a suitable format for the MVP

I'm thinking that on fixed skins (that's any skin that isn't
background.bmp)
xplmedianet could look for a .mvp extension before a .bmp. This .mvp would
be a fully compressed and ready to send image.... If it doesn't find a .mvp
then when it has finished preparing the bmp it will send it to the mvp and
then create a .mvp ready for next time...

This should vastly improve the performance of fixed skin menus?

It doesn't help with the movie thumbnail rendering, but this should be
somewhat improved over xplrionet, since there is a 'thumbs' scanner you can
run that pre-creates the images for the menu system to use.

Thoughts please?

Many thanks
Tony
