Hi Peter
I have posted recently mentioning using rs485 controlled LCD,S
and after reading your previous post this morning (Oz time) i have been
thinking about it and i think its possible but with limitations ......What
my thoughts were is to create a pic based dmx lcd which has a single comms
port which would normally be on the dmx network but would also  have
another
connector which would allow the user to download  Text messages usin
xPL............The xPL App would store the list of text messages for
reference...Once text messages are downloaded the device gets connected to
the dmx network and the user then can use the single byte which is normally
the light level to tell the unit which message to display......
