Not sure how the syntax of the messages go but you could use an array based
config item like
group or filter is currently. So you just have a config item zone with
entries 1 to 8.

Tony/John can you advise how this get sent in the config message.

Correct one reply for each probe.

No the control.basic and control.zoned do not have an element call command.
The fact that it would be a control. schema dictates that the message it a
control request and therefore is requesting the current status.
