John also has an xPL MBM app that monitors thinks like temperatures etc.
but that would mean running software on the other machines.
Since I have thought of a simpler way.
This is to write a vbscript ping routine that accepts an IP or server name
and as a result updates a global variable or insert a database record of
the same name. You can then run a script calling it for each machine from
a recurrring event.
The webpage can then just read the global variable or the database
depending on the approach.

Please respond
to ukha_xpl
Neil,
Have a look at xAP Ping and xAP Watcher available on James' site
www.mi4.biz. You could use these and bridge the xAp messages to xPL ( and
vv
) using the inbuilt xAP hub within xPLHAL - and a bit of scripting.
I mix and match a few xPL and xAP applications that suit my
needs,
eg currently I use the xPL HomeVision connector and the xAP TV &
weather
guides - the inbuilt 'scriptable' bridge allows you to choose as you wish
from either protocol.
