There are a few way of achieving this. One would be to have an xPL app
that pinged the machines and put the results out as a status message then
have a determinator that stored the statuses in a database table. The web
page could then just read the database table for the info.

Had a thought...
How easy would it be to get the status of a network device as an xPL
message...
I want to add device monitoring to a web page but pinging individual
devices is too time consuming...
maybe capturing SNMP traps??
I have absolutly no idea how to do this but thought it would make an
ideal addition to the xPL capabilites...???
