The modem responds 'OK' to AT#CID=1 but only responds "RING" when
the phone
rings. Bummer!

I don't think you can.

John's service version doesn't need the ocx (and when time allows the same
will apply to the vb6 app, but can't say when that will be)

Have you tried at#cid=1 to see if your modem supports cid?
