xPLRioNet v3.8u Released

  • Subject: xPLRioNet v3.8u Released

Hi all,

Have just published xPLRioNet v3.8u at www.xplhal.com

Changes in this version are:

1) Bug fix to picture display in MVP

2) Basic support for webcam images

The update package contains the same files as the last few updates (those
on
v3.8t already only need xplrionet.exe and possibly webcams.xml)

To enable webcam support add the following line to xplrionet.xml

<webcams enabled="Y" saveto="c:\webcams" />

Set saveto= to a folder that exists (preferably one dedicated to these
images)

Edit webcams.xml (this should be in the xplrionet main app folder) as
required. A typical entry is:

<webcam
url="http://www.fs.fed.us/gpnf/volcanocams/msh/images/mshvolcanocam.jpg";
filename="mshvolcanocam.jpg" interval="45" />

where url= is the url/filename of webcam image (only fixed filenames are
currently supported)

where filename= is a filename to save the image as

where interval= is the number of seconds between updates (updates are only
pulled while the image is being displayed)

To explain how it works:

If webcams are enabled then when xplrionet starts it reads webcams.xml and
if the image doesnt exist in the webcams folder it creates a dummy file of
0
bytes. It also adds the saveto= path (from xplrionet.xml) to the scanner
process (so don't add it to scanner.xml).

If you have added a new webcam(s) entry you should now run a quick scan so
they are added to the database

Once the scan is finished browse to the pictures menu on the mvp and select
the webcam (if it's new it will be a blank image). It should then, if it
can
find the url/filename, update with the latest available image. If you
continue to view the image it will update at each "interval"
seconds (the
above example webcam only updates every 10 minutes or so, so the 45 seconds
is overkill!).

Next up is the menu OSD for the MVP...

Regards
Tony
