Hi Mick,
Yes, a lot of the newer apps are being written as services, which as you
say
rules out the non-NT based operating systems like 98/Me.
Tony is maintaining all his older apps that aren't services so you can
still use
Windows 98/Me, and he is also maintaining a non-service version of xPLHal.
It
still requires the .NET framework (which is available for WIndows 98) but
it's
not a service, so it should work on W98.
Any of my own .NET apps could be released as standard apps rather than
services
if required, so if you have a particular need for a .NET app to be
available as
a non-service, then please let me know and I'll see about making it
available,
but as you say, I can't imagine many people using W98/Me for a production
HA
server.
