Steve,

Did you see the GUI Sender that I had written? I don't mind the duplication
(as, asides from anything else, it's a very useful tool to cut your teeth
on) but there's a little "gotcha"... as everything is freeform,
it's
possible to come up with invalid messages.

My sender app (it was on the xplproject site under development/testing, not
that obvious, I guess) goes part of the way to a solution by allowing the
various types of message to be sent.. It's still quite dangerous, however,
as it's possible to "break" the configuration of a specific
device/app by
sending the wrong thing, or getting it out of sync with what xplhal thinks
is going on..

Have a look, i'll send you my source code if you want to take the concept
