Re: config

Tough question,

I am mainly using xpl as an inter application broadcast communication. My
homebrew ha that has evolved since vb3 days consists of 2 main applications
with their own hard coded logic control to which i can now bolt on other
apps be it tony's or my own.

I have tried on several occasions with Tony's help to get into hal but in
the end it also ways seems easier just to code myself. The vb script has
slight syntax differences and editing it in a plain text editor is
backwards compared to the VB IDE

It would be great if xpl could still remain a generic protocol without
being tied completely into hal, yes i can use it for config only but that
seems over the top.

I have always felt being able to control via a fancy web interface is
nothing more than remote control and not really automation which seems a
waste of resources. Some parts of hal system are advancing in resource
requirements faster than the hardware that is available to me. Thankfully
Tony keeps the vb6 stuff.

Does that help ?
