Yep, we made the same mistake with xPL as well - but we corrected it.

We had to go through changing all our apps to bind to the correct port
range,
and I don't think we ran into any stability issues.

OK, I'd agree that xPL was probably a bad example as it's sufficiently
distant
from xAP in terms of port numbers.
Personally, I'd rather make my software compliant, and put in the time and
effort needed to ensure that there weren't any stability issues - but I
guess
that's a choice that people have to make.
