I can be quite wordy at times I'm afraid.

Just to summarise what I've been doing:

My connectors 'spy' on the xAP message stream, searching for messages
targetted explicitly at the device. They 'know' that that device won't
respond to the message natively so they sort of fill in on behalf of
that device to provide xAP support.

What I'll do is add support to my applications so that it handles
messages sent directly to it, and make the 'spying'/fill-in mode
optional, as an aid to the installer.

I was distinguishing between "KCSoft.SliMP3.Office" and
"KCSoft.SliMP3-Connector.Server" as being two utterly different
things
(the former being the actual SliMP3 device itself).

I think Mark's mail finally crossed the bridge :)

Hope that clarifies where I've been coming from.
