I've been noticing this too. No idea why having/not having a tray icon
causes the bluetooth to timeout but it does.  Still hunting for a fix.

The other items you mentioned are exactly how it should happen. The
display message, and the tray balloon, only ever occur once per device.
Did you want a way to disable it?

One thing I didn't mention is that in the config file you can choose the
radio number. It defaults to 0  which is the first found bluetooth
dongle, but you can pick any dongle.  When Blue starts up it lists all
found dongles and shows which is which.  So by making copies of Blue and
the config file you can run multiple of Blue on a  single PC each linked
to a different device. I though this may be useful if you wanted one
dongle at each end of the house.
