Yes they are there if you want them, all optional. The sequence being on
a received message:

xAPRaw   -  raw access to the message
xAPHeartbeat - only on a valid xAP heartbeat. If fired message process
stops here
xAPStart - only fires on  valid xAP message and includes source,
target,class and uid . It also includes a boolean Drop that if you set
to true causes the message to be dropped.
xAPCheck - fires on each item in the message
xAPEnd - fires at the end of the message.
