Right, plunge taken!

Just installed Vista Business.

These were the steps
Straight install, not an update
Let it do all it's security by default
Let it download all updates... reboot a few times
Installed firefox
Installed the .net2 service hub beta.. Failed
Re-read Edwards post re- the UAC getting in the way. Saved the hub msi
as c:\setup.msi . Made a shortcut on the desktop to msiexec. changed
the shortcut so it read C:\Windows\System32\msiexec.exe /i C:\setup.msi
. Right click on the shortcut 'Run as Administrator' . Installed fine
In the windows firewall added a program exception for the hub.exe.
Stopped and started the service, just to make sure.
Downloaded the IntranetLauncher 1.7 msi
Ran the msi, accepted the UAC, setup finished.Ran the Launcher from the
program menu. Program announced it was going to be added to the startup,
clicked ok. Windows Firewall poped up. Accepted what it said. Launcher
now running.
Launcher now list all the available Intranet apps and receives display
messages.
Did this as a check not required at all .Closed the launcher, edited
it's settings file to ensure UseHub is Yes so that it would use the hub
always. Restarted the launcher, still worked.

So good news so far. Then I installed VB6 and rebooted. After the reboot
I got a mswinsock.ocx error from the launcher /vb6/ anything else that
used it. Made a .bat file with the following contents( excluding the ---)

----------------------------------------

right clicked on the .bat and said run as administrator. Everything is
now back to normal. I am getting errors from the latest .net2 hub,
whihc I've let Edward know about, but the older .net2 one works. My
only other xAP play with Vista is running Floorplan. I can confirm it
runs fine, which means the Intranet ocx works in Vista which should mean
Ping/Switchboard etc run too.

I'll report back with things as I discover them. For now I'm still
getting used to all these Vistaisms and more popups than i've ever seen
before.
