Trouble following the getting started tutorial

Hi,
I've been following the getting started tutorial from the wiki and
trying out a few things.
Firstly I launch the HubGUI, v 1.2.1.6. Then I launch the viewer,
v2.0.1.6 These two don't appear to see each other, no heartbeats. If I
then launch the MessSend app, it is visible in the hub, but not the
viewer. Is this correct behaviour, because the wiki article suggests
that it isn't?
I'm using the MessSend utility as the Send utility referenced in the
wiki tutorial didn't seem to work.
Any help appreciated,
